Responsible for developing and maintaining all etching recipes for ion mill and plasma etchers. Second responsibility is deposition tools.

Responsible for developing and maintaining all etching recipes for ion mill and plasma etchers.  Second responsibility is deposition tools.

  • Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining plasma etching processes used in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Secondary Responsibility is maintaining recipes for metal and dielectric deposition tools
  • Design of Experiments for process performance, yield, and efficiency
  • Work with integration engineer to optimize recipes for low loss photonic devices
  • Characterize processes and components using semiconductor metrology tools, profilometers, interferometers, SEM, electrical testers and optical testers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with plasma etch and deposition equipment


  • B.S. + 10 years or M.S. + 2 years (+5 years preferred) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electricla Engineering or related field
  • Hands-on experience with plasma etch and ion beam etching, including strong knowledge of ICP, RIE, and ion beam systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ion beam etch optimization and hardmasking
