Conduct pioneering research projects in optical frequency combs and next-generation optical information processing systems at the PHI Lab in Sunnyvale. PHI Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist to conduct cutting-edge research in optical frequency combs and next-generation optical information processing systems. The ideal candidate will perform high-quality research while maintaining effective communication with colleagues at PHI Lab and collaborating with academic institutions.

  • Conduct pioneering research projects in optical frequency combs and next-generation optical information processing systems at the PHI Lab in Sunnyvale.
    PHI Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist to conduct cutting-edge research in optical frequency combs and next-generation optical information processing systems. The ideal candidate will perform high-quality research while maintaining effective communication with colleagues at PHI Lab and collaborating with academic institutions.

  • Experimental Research: Perform advanced optical experiments in the laboratory; establish and implement new methodologies and platforms.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate innovatively with team members to synthesize new ideas and experimental approaches.
  • Academic Output: Publish academic papers, present findings at international conferences, and file patents for novel inventions.
  • Mentorship: Train and support junior researchers at PHI Lab, as well as Ph.D. students at partner universities, in conducting their research projects.


  • Ph.D. degree in Photonics, Nonlinear Optics, Quantum Optics, or a related field.
  • Laboratory experience in optical frequency comb research; microcomb research is a plus.
  • Experience in photonic integrated circuit design and foundry tape-outs is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge and strong mathematical skills in Photonics, Nonlinear Optics, Quantum Optics, or a related field.
  • Strong experimental skills in ultrafast optics, quantum optics, or integrated photonics.
  • Proficiency in numerical simulation.
  • Demonstrated creativity and originality with a track record of inventing novel solutions or technologies.
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work effectively and with an open mind in a diverse, multicultural environment.
